Sussex Group Hardy Plant Society 2009 |
|
The Hardy Plant Society is an international society and was formed in 1957. During the 20th century hardy perennials were going through a mid-life crisis so a group of nurserymen, Alan Bloom, Arthur Hellyer, Will Ingwersen and John Sambrook decided to form the society with the aim ‘to promote knowledge and the growth of hardy herbaceous perennials’.
From its earliest days the society has had a reputation for its friendliness and for offering its members a range of activities both nationally and locally through its groups. At these events members have the opportunity to meet other like-minded keen gardeners and to share ideas, information and most of all enthusiasm for plants and gardens.
The Sussex Group was formed in 1994 and shares the aims and objectives of the parent Society.
We offer a range of varied activities in both West and East Sussex, from October to March we have lectures given by quality speakers in different venues around the county and there are opportunities to purchase plants grown by members. In Spring and Summer we hold a Plant and Seedling Sale, organise coach trips and garden visits etc. (Please see the Group Events Page for full details of forthcoming events). |
